The system for a simple and quantifiable
method of evaluating basic movement abilities
Did you know?
500,000 injuries occur per year in high school and college football. That’s between 18-51 injuries per 100 players
Not all injuries are preventable, however…The biggest risk factor for getting injured
is a history of a previous injury.
What is the answer?
Athletes may demonstrate movement patterns that increase
their risk of getting injured. Therefore Screening ALL athletes
to determine who is “at-risk” using the Functional Movement
Screen may help to reduce this risk. The Functional Movement Screen has been used by major sports leagues including the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB. It has also been used in our military forces.
The Functional Movement Screen is an innovative system used to evaluate movement pattern quality for athletes as well as:
- Identify individuals at risk for injury
- Help find weak links in your movement
- Assist with development of a fitness/exercise program
- Provide corrective exercises to improve movement/performance
- Create a baseline for movement quality
The screen is comprised of seven fundamental movement patterns that require a balance of mobility and stability and place the individual in extreme positions where weaknesses and imbalances become noticeable. The testing is quick and painless. The results are tallied and corrective exercises are given to correct any movement imbalances detected. Implement corrective exercises to reduce risky movement patterns in athletes and thus eliminate preventable injuries.
